Performance
Equipped with a standard 2.4L turbo 4-cylinder engine, the RX 350 will give you more responsive acceleration while you cruise along the highway thanks to its 275 horsepower1 and 317 lb.-ft. of torque. The Acura’s larger 3.5L V6 engine will feel more sluggish, as it outputs 290 horsepower2 and 267 lb.-ft. of torque2. As for their drivetrains, they are fairly equivalent to each other with both models offering standard FWD or available AWD to give you the necessary grip on the roads. However, where the RX truly stands out is its EPA-estimated 22/29/25 MPG city/hwy/combined3 fuel economy. Its competitor cannot match this due to its 19/26/22 MPG city/hwy/combined4 ratings. Plus, the Lexus version even has a smaller 17.8-gallon tank when compared to the MDX’s 18.5-gallon capacity. This means that the Acura vehicle won’t even give you the same range as the Lexus version while being more expensive to refill.
Technology
Before you decide to head down to Bay View Park in either the 2026 Lexus RX 350 or the 2026 Acura MDX, consider the touchscreen sizes that both models offer. In the former, there is an available 14.0-inch display that will give you plenty of room to change settings. However, the Acura has a much smaller standard 12.3-inch infotainment system that can be difficult to use for some. Unless you upgrade to a much higher trim level, the standard 12-speaker Lexus Premium Sound System has one more outlet for audio, as Acura only offers 11 speakers on its baseline version. On top of that, the RX 350 has a more compact and refined available 10.0-inch Head-Up Display. The optional 10.5-inch variant in the Acura showcases the same information in a slightly more obtuse manner.
Interior
When you and your passengers want to stay at a pleasant temperature, the Lexus RX 350 offers available heated and ventilated seats in the first- and second-row outboard positions. While the Acura’s model does have a warming function available behind the driver’s chairs, it lacks the ability to cool the cushions down on a hot day near Jermain Park. Plus, you may have better air quality in a Lexus due to the available smog-sensing automatic recirculation mode. This feature is not available in the MDX, which means that you’ll have to rely on the multi-zone climate control system that is standard in both the Acura and Lexus vehicles.
