“ I had been looking for an RX 350 for a few months. I found one at a Lexus dealer in Arlington Illinois. I did a FaceTime with the sales person. I asked to see all the flaws on the car. Hardly any bad spots were pointed out. We negotiated over the phone and agreed on a price pending inspection. I made a 7 hour round trip drive to see and hopefully buy the car. When we arrived we had to wait a half hour for the cleaning of the car to be finished even though they knew what time we were coming. Finally it was ready. As I began to look at the car I was starting to see quite a few bad spots on the exterior. It didn’t take more than 20 seconds to realize this was not the one. It had allot of bad spots but the worst was 2 quarter inch dings that looked like the touch up was not done by a non-professional. As bad, It also had an 8” crease at the bottom of the passenger front and rear door. We left disappointed, somewhat disgusted, and worst of all feeling we were not treated with respect and honesty. A few days later I found a promising one online at Lexus of Toledo. I talked on the phone with sales person Jim Schenk. He sent allot of pictures and videos. It looked very nice. I asked him to be upfront on the condition of the car. He assured me it was one of the nicest 5 old year old cars he had seen in his 33 year career. We agreed on a price over the phone. The next day we drove to the dealership. When we walked in the front door Jim was there to greet us. He told us to look to our left. There was the car right on the showroom floor. A very nice touch. After looking at it for about 20 seconds I knew this was the one. Beautiful condition inside and out just as Jim described it on our phone call. I pointed out a couple spots to Jim. Within 5 minutes the detail technician was there and was able to get the spots out. After a successful test drive we sat down to sign a few papers. We then went to the Finance Manager’s office to review the financing. He offered some add ons that were available. There was no pressure to purchase them. We finalized a few details in Jim’s office and drove off happy and satisfied that I had purchased a great car. Literally a tale of 2 cities.
